About Tengah Works

A Steady Hand for Small Singapore Businesses

We believe the right tools should make a working day feel more settled, not more complicated. Tengah Works was built around that simple idea.

Our Story

How Tengah Works Came About

Tengah Works began from a familiar frustration. The founders had spent years watching capable, dedicated small business owners in Singapore lose hours each week to tools that did not talk to each other — task managers in one place, customer notes in another, invoicing somewhere else entirely. Nothing felt connected and nobody had time to fix it.

In 2022 they started working with a small group of local businesses — a family-run accountancy firm, a boutique logistics arranger, a specialist training provider — spending time understanding each firm before suggesting anything. What came out of that work was less about technology and more about listening: asking where the day lost its rhythm and what a steadier version might look like.

By mid-2023, the shape of Tengah Works had settled into three clear offerings, each sized and priced so that a small Singapore firm could step in and step back without risk. The name comes from "tengah" — the Malay word for middle or centre — a reminder that good tools bring things back to their proper place rather than pulling in new directions.

Our Mission

What We Are Here to Do

Our mission is straightforward: help small businesses in Singapore find a calmer, more coherent way to use the tools available to them — without disruption, without pressure, and without unrealistic promises.

Balance

We bring things back to a workable middle ground, not towards a complicated new system.

Listening First

We understand the shape of your working day before we suggest a single tool.

Plain Language

Every summary, diagram, and update is written in ordinary terms, not technical jargon.

How We Work

Our Working Standards

The practices we hold ourselves to on every engagement, regardless of size.

Data Handling

We treat client business information as confidential. Data shared during engagements is used only to deliver the agreed work and is not retained beyond what is necessary.

Written Agreements

Every engagement begins with a clear written scope. No work begins until both parties have a shared understanding of what is included and what is not.

Quarterly Reviews

Retainer clients receive a written quarterly summary covering what has changed, what is working, and what we would consider adjusting in the period ahead.

Documented Integrations

Each integration is accompanied by a written diagram and plain-language notes. You will always have a record of what was built and why decisions were made.

Staff Walkthroughs

Aligned Integration and retainer clients receive a dedicated walkthrough session so the people who use the tools day-to-day are comfortable with how they work.

No Lock-In

We use tools your business already owns or can access independently. We do not create dependencies on proprietary systems that would be difficult to leave.

Our Approach in Context

AI Integration for Small Businesses in Singapore

Singapore's small business landscape includes many capable firms — in professional services, consultancy, education, retail, and trade — where the owners and their small teams handle a wide range of tasks each day. Over the past few years, the number of available digital tools has expanded considerably, and with it the potential for fragmentation: useful apps that do not share information, helpful assistants that require constant supervision, and systems that were each a good idea in isolation but create friction in combination.

Tengah Works addresses that particular challenge. We work specifically with small firms — typically between two and fifteen people — where the owner is directly involved in day-to-day operations and where the adoption of any new tool needs to fit around an already busy schedule. Our approach starts with an honest assessment of how work is currently organised, what is taking longer than it should, and what a more settled arrangement might look like in practical terms.

We draw on a range of widely used AI-enabled business tools, selecting based on fit rather than familiarity. Where AI assistants can reduce repetitive work — summarising communications, organising tasks, drafting routine documents — we introduce them carefully and with staff in the loop. Where they would add complexity without clear benefit, we say so. Our intention is not to introduce as many tools as possible but to identify the modest changes that would give a working day more room to breathe.

Tengah Works is based in Singapore and works with clients across the island. Our three services — the Centring Session, Aligned Integration, and Even Keel Retainer — are described in plain terms and priced transparently so that any small business owner can assess whether they represent good value before committing.
